Doctor Who Series 8: 5 Monsters We Want To Return

4. Raxacoricofallapatorians

slitheen In series one, we were bombarded with three episodes of these gassy creatures, making them seem a little overused. But unless you€™re a watcher of The Sarah Jane Adventures, you wouldn€™t have seen them since. This seems a shame because they€™re well designed, with bulging black eyes and sharp claws. Plus, unlike other creatures, they have an unusual €˜weak spot€™ that can defeat them. With the Sontarans, you have to aim for the back of the neck, and with the Daleks it€™s the eye stalk. But Raxacoricofallapatorians? A slosh of vinegar causes their bodies to explode into pools of green goo. But how could they bring them back? Well, the Doctor Who episodes focussed mainly on the Slitheen, a family of criminals. They were constantly up to no good: plotting to melt the Earth in order to access the time rift and planning to destroy the Earth and sell it as fuel for starships. However, not every family from a planet has to be bad. They could be brought back in a visit to their home planet, Raxacoricofallapatorius. The Doctor could find them being invaded, terrorised or in a galactic war and could strive to save them and recover their society. Or, if they still need to be seen as criminals, they could be the ones who are invading somewhere else, with new and exciting aliens being brought in to keep the episodes interesting.
