Doctor Who Series 9: 10 Things To Expect From Moffat's Last Series

3. At Least One Returning Classic Monster

"I€™d like to see the Daemons € I€™d like the Axons to come back I€™d like to have a go at the Autons€"
The Autons and Daleks in series one, Cybermen in series two, Master in Three, Sontarans in four, Silurians in Five, Ice Warriors in seven and Zygons in the 50th special - most years have seen the return of a monster from the classic era. We haven't seen Peter Capaldi face off against a monster not seen since the classic era so now is his chance. His comments about the Daemons as a precursor to the Weeping Angels suggests that there might be a grain of truth in his comments - I refer to ancient Babylon again as a perfect setting. While Moffat is a man who prefers new monsters, Series 10 would be his last chance to have his own take on a classic monster. Sea Devils rising out of the misty Thames in Victorian London? The Mara resurfacing and out for revenge? The Krynoid taking over a futuristic Earth colony? The possibilities are endless and given Capaldi's desire to revisit old foes expect at least one new reimagining in 2017.
