Doctor Who Series 9: 22 Easter Eggs You Need To See
19. May The Force Be With You
Albar Prentis, as mentioned played by Paul Kaye, was the Tivolian undertaken who was killed in 1980, and later returned as a ghost to haunt the underwater base, which is where the Doctor meets him. It's a part of that meeting that he reveals his job of being a funeral director, and includes a nod to another rather popular sci-fi series. His business card signs off with 'May the remorse be with you', a great/terrible (depending on how you feel about puns) play on the famous Star Wars quote. There's another nod to a galaxy far, far away before this one, in the opening episode The Magician's Apprentice. When the Doctor is hosting his farewell party, it's in the year 1138 AD. A reference to George Lucas' first film, THX 1138, the number has appeared across Star Wars films and various other media since, becoming one of pop culture's most famous Easter eggs in the process.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
