Series 1 & 2
As we can see from this graph, Series 1 started off with nearly 11 million viewers on the first episode - likely a great number of the nation tuning in to see the return of an old classic and a new Doctor. Figures then dropped and stayed around the 7.5 to 8.5 million mark for around half the series before decreasing to around 7 million. David Tennant's first episode, a Christmas Special, boosted numbers to near 10 million. Series 2 figures hovered between 7 and 9 million in the first half before dropping to between 6 and 7 million, then picking up for Billie Piper's final (regular) appearance.
