Doctor Who: What Happened To Every Companion?
2. Matt Smith Era
While 10 brought Doctor Who to the mainstream, Matt Smith's era kept it there and kept it going. You would think that easily the most recognizable Doctor Who era would have the most companions, but this one only has three, and we're only talking about two of them for this segment. Which brings us to Amy and Rory Pond.
Amy Pond was the first friend 11 made after he regenerated, meeting her as a little girl and promising to bring her along on his adventures. But when his Tardis accidentally takes him 12 years into her future, he takes her along as a young woman to make up for the years he missed. Rory was Amy's boyfriend and eventual husband. While Amy and The Doctor were the playful duo, Rory was the serious minded realist, who would literally do anything for Amy.
But since these two would rather die than leave The Doctor, the show decided to take them up on that offer. The two met their end when the weeping angels invaded Manhattan. The trio got all but one of them, the last one sending Rory back to the 1930's. And since this had already happened at the start of the episode, The Doctor had already gone back to save him, meaning that if he went back again, it would cause a catastrophic paradox. Amy let the angel take her as well so that she could be with Rory. The Doctor later found their graves, and one last message to him from Amy.
