Doctor Who Writer Toby Whithouse Talks New Companion

"I know a bit about the new companion, I don't know who they cast...."

With filming on the new series of Doctor Who underway, it is only a matter of time before little snippets of information start to seep out into the world via the ever-grasping fingers of the world wide web, and probably the one thing that every Who fan wants to know is who will replace Amy and Rory (Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill) as the Doctor€™s travelling companions when they leave the show half way through the series. Steven Moffat has already revealed that fans will be touched by the departure of the Doctor€™s current friends, but also made the small note that they would be happy with the replacement. Who writer Toby Whithouse has now added an even smaller snippet of information, while also revealing just what will happen to him if he dares utter a word more. Whithouse said, "I know a bit about the new companion, I don't know who they cast....Even if I did, if I told you Steven Moffat would come out here and punch me in the neck. Steven is one of the cleverest, most inventive people I've ever met in my life, and so you know it is in very safe hands with him. If he makes decisions, the chances are it's for the best - it's the best thing for the show." Anyone who doesn€™t agree that Moffat just has that magical knack of pulling the rug just when you think you€™re on solid ground, well that€™s your prerogative, but for the rest of us, we can only wonder €“ for now €“ as to what is in store for us in the new series. If only it wasn€™t so long away.
