Dollhouse: Where Are They Now?
9. Tahmoh Penikett
As many of the characters in the show had no set persona they were, by design, hard to connect with until viewers started to see the people inside peeking out. This left FBI Agent Paul Ballard as the main protagonist for viewers to connect with at the start of the show. However, after coming in fresh from his role as Helo in the rebooted Battlestar Galactica, Penikett was such a recognizable face that he was arguably harder to believe than the dolls.
Episode 6 changed all that with the oddly mismatched (Penikett is 6'3" while Dushku is 5'4") and wonderfully choreographed battle between Ballard and Echo bringing renewed interest to the characters and show. Ballard's investigation eventually led him to the Dollhouse itself, and he joined up as Echo's new handler in the second season.
After Dollhouse, Tahmoh went on to several guest-star roles in shows such as Supernatural, Altered Carbon, Taken, Strange Empire, and Continuum. His next role will be in the Medinah, a dystopian science-fiction series set in Qatar in the wake of catastrophic climate change. Originally shown at 2017's Comic-Con, the show finally gained a distribution deal this year.
