Dragon Ball Z: Ranking Goku's 10 Best Fights
1. Frieza
Was it ever going to be anything else? A fight. A battle. A war that defined a generation. Goku's more-than-epic confrontation with Frieza is one of the greatest in animated history, and possibly television history as a whole.
Spanning what feels like an eternity of episodes, this is the defining conflict of the Dragon Ball Z saga. While power levels and indestructible villains continue to rise throughout the rest of the series, it is Frieza that truly stood against Kakarot as a seemingly impossible task, failing to be put down time and time again despite Goku's most desperate attempts.
He is forced to pull out every trick in the book with Frieza containing his every move, including a dramatic Kaio-ken times twenty, which does hit the target, but barely enough to rough up the stunningly strong enemy. Not even harnessing power from across the galaxy for one almighty goddamn Spirit Bomb was enough to take Frieza down, only resulting in the death of Krillin instead.
Goku magnificently turns Super Saiyan for the first time, Frieza drops an energy bomb into Namek that will blow the planet up in five minutes. Kakarot is seemingly killed after being ploughed into a volcano, but returns to save his son Gohan and trick Frieza into cutting himself in half with his own Death Saucer.
It just has it all from the very first confontation to the final nail in the coffin.
