Each Member Of The Always Sunny Gang Ranked From Worst To Best
2. Dennis Reynolds
Glenn Howerton is arguably one of the best actors working in TV right now, his performance in the role of Dennis Reynolds is nuanced and genius. How his lines are delivered, and the choices he makes for Dennis make the character effortlessly charming and fun to watch, whilst being simultaneously frightening.
Part of the highlight of Dennis as a character is the gradual decline he suffers throughout the show, and how he deals with his imperfections.
From the beginning, Dennis was presented as a cool character who was good with people and knew how to get what he wanted. Although they were all toxic, Dennis put the other characters to shame in regards to how unlikable he could be in his pursuit of sin and pleasure.
After some time, however, this lust began to manifest itself differently, making Dennis a far more fascinating character than first impressions would imply.
Throughout the show, we have seen that Dennis has a distinct lack of empathy and emotion. This not only adds many possibilities for dark humour, but it acts as a justification for a lot of the characters initial motivations. We saw him manipulate people and abuse his position of perceived higher social standing, and now it made sense.
The development of Dennis works shockingly well, as all of his choices and actions explain previous ones. We do not see the character change at all; we are merely watching his real and horrifying true side appear as his facade begins to crack.
