Emmys 2016 Nominations: 12 Major Shocks & Snubs

1. Shock - The People V. O.J. Simpson Dominates

After Game of Thrones, the show that came away with the most nominations was The People V. O.J. Simpson, the dramatised anthology series based on the real-life Trial of the Century.

Although expected to get plenty of attention, it was a shock to see it pick up a whopping 22 nominations, just one behind HBO's behemoth. All of the main cast were recognised, include Cuba Gooding Jr. in the title role and David Schwimmer as Robert Kardashian (these were the two who might've missed out), as well as three different nominations in both the writing and directing categories. It also got nods in hairstyling and makeup too, which is presumably just for the work they did on John Travolta. It was a great series, and it leads an Emmys full of surprises and diversity, so is something to be celebrated. (Although, if we're talking Limited Series, Fargo was better.)
