Emmys 2017: 9 Ups & 6 Downs
5. Jermaine Fowler = Worst Emmy Announcer Ever?
Probably the most painful thing about this year's Emmy ceremony was the decision to appoint actor and comedian Jermaine Fowler as the show's announcer.
Fowler didn't seem to realise he had a microphone mere inches from his mouth and shouted almost every spoken word during the show, and let out some howlingly awful improv throughout the broadcast, such as declaring, "Shout out to Winston Churchill!" after John Lithgow's Best Supporting Actor win, and after mentioning that Elizabeth Moss graduated two years early from high school, he added, "I read that on the Internet."
It was horrendously cringe-worthy and sadly not even in the good way, not at all. Twitter practically exploded with calls for Fowler to be dumped mid-broadcast, and it seems likely he won't be asked back following the vitriolic reaction this year.
