Emmys 2017: 9 Ups & 6 Downs
4. "Donald Trump" Wins An Emmy
Unsurprisingly, Alec Baldwin won the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series award for his performance as Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live, and fun though his scathing impression was, was it really deserving of an award?
It's clear that Baldwin won the gong more for the sake of a political statement than because he actually deserved the win, especially being in a category also featuring the brilliant likes of Louie Anderson, Tony Hale and Matt Walsh.
Considering the night was full of actors vocally protesting the President-elect, did this category really need to be upended to say something everybody already knows? It was a predictable move, but still totally disappointing, especially with so many actual deserving winners in the field.
