Emmys 2017: Who Should Win Every Major Award (And Who Actually Will)
18. Supporting Actress In A Limited Series Or Movie
Nominees
Judy Davis - Feud: Bette and Joan
Laura Dern - Big Little Lies
Jackie Hoffman - Feud: Bette and Joan
Regina King - American Crime
Michelle Pfeiffer - The Wizard of Lies
Shailene Woodley - Big Little Lies
Who Should Win
Laura Dern
Dern is having a hell of a year on the small screen, with a great supporting turn in Twin Peaks (which could see her back in this race next year) and an entertaining guest spot in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. But some of her best work came in Big Little Lies where, in a drama full of excellent performances, she so frequently managed to steal every scene she was in and show off her full (and considerable) range of acting chops.
Who Will Win
Laura Dern
This is Dern's sixth Emmy nomination, and despite that she's yet to actually win anything. There's a good chance the voters will look to correct that now, especially when she's delivered such a strong body of work and an excellent performance in this, while Big Little Lies is the buzziest of the shows/movies in contention here. It won Best Casting at the Creative Arts Emmys, so it's a popular choice too. There is the outside chance Dern and Woodley split the BLL vote though, in which case Regina King could make it three-in-a-row.
