Emmys 2018: Who Should Win Every Award (And Who Actually Will)

15. Writing For A Comedy Series

Silicon Valley Fifty One Percent
HBO

Nominees: Atlanta -- Alligator Man (Donald Glover); Atlanta -- Barbershop (Stefani Robinson); Barry -- Chapter One: Make Your Mark (Alec Berg, Bill Hader); Barry -- Chapter Seven: Loud, Fast and Keep Going (Liz Sarnoff); The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel -- Pilot (Amy Sherman-Palladino); Silicon Valley -- Fifty-One Percent (Alec Berg)

Should Win: The Marvelous Mrs Maisel

The pilot episode perfectly encapsulates everything that Maisel - and all of Amy Sherman-Palladino's work - does so well: it's packed with weird and wonderful characters, gives you an immediate sense of place, and is full of zippy, zany one-liners, while introducing us to her latest comedy heroine.

Will Win: The Marvelous Mrs Maisel

Maisel's already enjoying more awards love than Gilmore Girls ever did, and that should translate to some serious Emmys love. Sherman-Palladino's writing - and especially her dialogue - is so evident in the finished product that it's impossible to ignore.
