Emmys 2018: Who Should Win Every Award (And Who Actually Will)

13. Directing For A Drama Series

Game of Thrones Jon Snow Daenerys
HBO

Nominees: Game of Thrones - Beyond the Wall (Alan Taylor); Game of Thrones - The Dragon and the Wolf (Jeremy Podeswa); Ozark - The Toll (Jason Bateman); Ozark - Tonight We Improvise (Daniel Sackheim); Stranger Things 2 - Chapter Nine: The Gate (The Duffer Brothers); The Crown - Paterfamilias (Stephen Daldry); The Handmaid's Tale - After (Kari Skogland)

Should Win: The Handmaid's Tale

Were The Spoils of War nominated, this might be a different conversation, but it's not so it isn't (although The Dragon and the Wolf is impressive). After, which picks up the fallout from one of The Handmaid's Tale's most explosive, shocking events, is at times tense, at others uplifting, and ends with a monumental, haunting final image.

Will Win: The Handmaid's Tale

The show won this award last year, and with some stunning work from Skogland this time around (it was Reed Morano in 2017), it looks well-placed to repeat, especially when the category doesn't look particularly stacked.
