Emmys 2018: Who Should Win Every Award (And Who Actually Will)

12. Writing For A Limited Series, Movie, Or Dramatic Special

Twin Peaks The Return Woodsman
Showtime

Nominees: American Vandal - Clean Up (Kevin McManus and Matthew McManus); The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story - House by the Lake (Tom Rob Smith); Black Mirror - USS Callister (William Bridges and Charlie Brooker); Godless (Scott Frank); Patrick Melrose (David Nicholls); Twin Peaks (Mark Frost and David Lynch

Should Win: Twin Peaks

Be it the seemingly random plotlines, the creepy, haunting speeches ("This is the water and this is the well"), the character arc of Dougie that gradually seeds the return of Agent Dale Cooper, or the stirring dialogue that fully announces it, there is nothing at the Emmys this year as well-written, as bold or as brilliant as Twin Peaks.

Will Win: Black Mirror

Black Mirror is hugely popular with voters, with San Junipero winning both this award and best TV movie (now moved to the Creative Arts Emmys), and USS Callister already has the latter in the bag. With more smart tech satire, shocking twists, and a spoof on Star Trek to boot, it's an episode that will hold a lot of appeal.
