Emmys 2019: 10 Most Outrageous Nomination Snubs

2. Catch-22 - No Nominations

True Detective Season 3 Premiere4

George Clooney, for all he’s famous as a gentlemen and a heartthrob, always does his best work as an oddball.

Either through directing Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind, which supposed game show host Chuck Barris was actually a CIA deep operative spy, or through roles in Burn After Reading, O Brother, Where Art Thou and The Men Who Stare At Goats, Clooney’s at his best when he’s weird.

It was no surprise then when he adapted and starred in the cult satirical novel Catch-22. It was also no great surprise that the adaptation turned out to be pretty good, including Clooney’s often bizarre humour and brilliant facial acting.

However, seeing as it was a Hulu exclusive (in the US, at least), it’s also no surprise that it missed out on any nominations anywhere. Hulu’s big limited series last year, The Looming Tower, suffered a similar fate.

Though Netflix scored 117 nominations across the board Amazon’s The Marvellous Mrs Maisel dominates the categories it’s eligible for, Hulu doesn’t seem to have the clout of its streaming competitors, and so Clooney, Kyle Chandand Catch-22 miss out here.
