4. Predictable Winners Make For A Boring Show

While it would be difficult to argue that most of the night's winners weren't totally deserving, the results were for the most part so hilariously predictable that it all ended up feeling like a dull, foregone conclusion.

Did anyone not predict that The Bear and Succession would dominate in their respective comedy/drama categories?

As such, surprises were few and far between, and one or two genuine shock wins would've injected the night with the energy and excitement it so desperately needed.

Again, there are far worse sins for awards shows to commit than be predictable - especially with so many worthy winners - but it did result in an undeniable air of repetition throughout the evening which made its otherwise well-paced three hours feel a bit long in the tooth at times.
