Every Archer Lead Ranked Worst To Best
1. Sterling Archer
Typically in a show, the lead character tends to be the most relatable, and it is the job of the supporting roles to be weird and wacky. This is often why the side characters end up being more exciting and traditionally fan-favourites, but this is not the case in the Archer series. The eponymous Sterling Malory Archer is a wonderful presence and carries the title well by being hilarious, and genuinely believable as the world's deadliest spy.
As a character, he certainly should not be likeable, as he is incredibly toxic and causes so many problems, but despite this, you can't help but love him. He has a non-elegant charm to him that makes him feel like what the movie version of James Bond would come across like if he were real - that being a pervert and violent alcoholic.
His relationship with the other characters is what makes the show so fascinating. He has strong dynamics with everyone, but the connection he has to his mother is the best aspect of his character. The weird Oedipus complex and sense of disdain but admiration gives him a clear motive and acts as another chink in the armour of his badass persona.
Archer is cool and suave on the surface level, but beneath he is a slightly pathetic, dim-witted mother's boy, and that's what makes him so fun/subversive.
