Malory is the mother of our lead, and often in a show, she would be a side character that only appears to relay problems or plots for the protagonist. But in Archer, this role is given way more credence than a maternal figure traditionally would be, as she is not only the head of the spy agency but a consistently appearing character who has a strong presence and personality.

Malory is cold, harsh, honest to a fault, and her governing style seems to be to patronise and belittle her staff into improving. While this definitely makes for a hostile work environment, it also delivers incredibly funny viewing.

The show is full of characters mocking each other - that is primarily how the roles function as a unit. Malory has to be the insulter that always hurts the most, as her disdainful jabs feel lined with venom, and that makes her one of the most powerful positions in the show.

Finally, her relationship to Archer makes up a lot of the series, and it's incredible. There is such toxicity to their dynamic that develops, but always feels like a borderline rivalry.

Malory is funny, cruel, and an absolute boss - both literally and figuratively.
