2. Maurice The Monster
Maurice, or Maury, is Andrew’s hormone monster and easily one of the funniest characters in the show. He’s a raspy voiced creature from an alternate dimension filled with entities who guide humans through various parts of their lives. It is strongly suggested throughout the show that Maury is able to break the fourth wall and is aware that there is an audience watching the entire time. At one point he asks the audience if they are binge watching the show and in another episode he attempts to win a sponsorship deal from Monster energy drinks.
Maury is always going full throttle with little regard for consequences. He takes his job as a hormone monster seriously and becomes very easily annoyed if Andrew refuses to indulge in sexual desires.
Maury is at his best when he’s interacting with hormone monstress Connie. The pair have a long history together which has seen them placed as everything from mortal enemies to frenzied lovers. Both represent their respective teens with a passion and this brings them into conflict with one another, such as in a season 1 episode where the two act as lawyers, negotiating the terms of a make out session.
