Every Bojack Horseman Lead Ranked From Worst To Best

3. Todd Chavez

Todd is the heart and soul of this show in many ways, as despite being quick and easy comic relief, he also provides evidence of how Bojack pushes people away. The series openly depicts the dynamic between the pair as toxic from the offset, with the former sit-com star treating Todd like a leech and sabotaging any efforts he makes to move on from him.

However, outside of his connection to the lead, Todd stands on his own merits, which helps him rise through the ranking. He is played to perfection by Aaron Paul, who gives him this grungy, yet ultimately optimistic energy, that acts like a far more grounded version of Mr. Peanutbutter. His wacky adventures are often just b-plots, but they carry some of the show's best sequences and are always a welcome distraction.

The young Chavez is also a fantastic depiction of asexuality; a subject TV tends to be massively under representative in. His understanding and development as a confident ace person is fascinating to watch, and for many, he is their first experience with the matter.

One final note comes in the fact that he delivers one of the show's best speeches, where he finally tells Bojack that there are no excuses and that "You need to be better!".
