Every Buffy The Vampire Slayer Holiday Episode Ranked From Worst To Best

5. 'Amends' (Season 3, Episode 10)

Buffy The Vampire Slayer Fear Itself

Season three's only holiday episode, Amends, puts in a double-shift as the whole Buffy saga's only Christmas episode.

Back from hell and feeling broody and repentant (even more so than usual), Angel (David Boreanaz) is haunted by the people he has murdered in the run up to Christmas, in a dark, otherworldly take on Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol.

As it turns out, these malevolent manifestations are the work of the First Evil -- the original baddie, who, coincidentally, would resurface five years on as season seven's Big Bad. Driven by the apparitions and his mounting guilt, Angel makes his way to the peak of Kingman's Bluff in the midst of a heatwave, to await sunrise and shirk this mortal coil once and for all.

An unseasonal snowstorm -- this is LA, after all -- prevents our brooding hulk of handsome from doing so, and Buffy and Angel go for a romantic stroll in the snow. Cute, but it'snow making any Best Of lists.

This episode was also the basis for a 1-800-Collect holiday ad campaign that ran around the same time, featuring Boreanaz and Gellar (below).
