Every Buffy The Vampire Slayer Season Finale Ranked From Worst To Best

1. The Gift (Season 5, Episode 22)

Buffy The Gift Sacrifice
The WB

After overcoming many weathering trials throughout the fifth season, Buffy had no choice but to throw everything she had at Glory in order to stop her from killing Dawn and ripping apart the fabric of numerous dimensions.

Things start off fairly subdued with the crushing weight of the situation bearing down on all involved, but it gradually builds to the type of crescendo that will leave you utterly speechless.

There are so many beautifully constructed scenes throughout that it's impossible to mention them all here, but it'd be a crime to not highlight the likes of Buffy's final speech before her sacrifice or her initial assault upon Glory with Olaf's hammer. Not only that, but every character gets their chance to shine, and their actions seen here go on to shape who they all become in the final two seasons.

Originally intended to be the show's final ever episode, 'The Gift' is arguably the perfect example of the show at the height of its powers. Epic in scale, emotionally devastating, and brimming with all of the show's best qualities, this episode is a shining example of Buffy at its very best, and a strong contender for the best episode of the show's entire run.
