Every Harry Potter Reference In The Simpsons Ranked
13. Hmm.. What Else Rhymes With Daughter?
16 years after Homer spent time as Lurleen Lumpkin's manager, nearly ruining his marriage in the process, the country singer returned to the Simpsons' house on the run from the law. After Marge figured out Lurleen was in pain thanks to her father leaving, she tracked him down and brought him back into his daughter's life.
With the singer happy to have her father back, she and the Simpsons get to singing her new song, in which she's back to feeling like a daughter again. The family all pitch in with a rhyming line, of which Lisa's is "quiet down, I'm reading Harry Potter."
This was only put in because Potter rhymed with daughter, but it does raise questions about the Angelica Button series in the show. If the Harry Potter books exist in the Simpsons universe, why would such a clear and obvious rip off be so popular?
