Every Inside No. 9 Episode Ranked From Worst To Best

10. Zanzibar

Inside No 9
BBC

Plot: Various misunderstandings unfold in a hotel corridor, mainly thanks to two guests being identical twin brothers (Rory Kinnear). The episode's dialogue is written in iambic pentameter.

Location: The ninth floor of the Hotel Zanzibar.

A joyous and wickedly smart love-letter to Shakespeare, Zanzibar is a jaw-dropping season premiere that shows an absolute mastery of iambic pentameter. Writing the episode in this way was risky, but it paid off remarkably well and the dialogue throughout this episode is terrific.

There are quite a number of characters here, all with different story-lines; all of these narrative threads are very funny and entertaining, and the episode beautifully blends them together. These plots lead to an enormously satisfying ending and, unusually for Inside No. 9, it all ends happily and will leave viewers grinning from ear to ear.

It can be confusing, but for the most part this episode is a delightfully unpredictable and hysterically funny affair that's further elevated by strong visuals and performances across the board.
