Every Love, Death & Robots Episode Ranked

19. Sonnie's Edge

The Very Pulse of the Machine
Netflix

Sonnie's Edge is an uncomfortable and twisting tale, an early indication that Love, Death & Robots would not be a series to play things subtly.

Following a woman who controls a gladiatorial beast for underground battles to the death, the episode is as foul and bloody as anything the show has ever done, making the most of its photorealism and gloomy tone to reveal an abundance of secrets about its eponymous character's murky past.

It's a bit clunky in the way it alternates between uber-violent and quietly sombre, but it still sells its underlying message of self-preservation and survival with a brilliantly surprising twist and macabre imagery.
