Every Love, Death & Robots Episode Ranked

32. Shape-Shifters

Shape Shifters Love Death Robots
Netflix

Having always prided itself on its hyper-realistic and often awe-inspiring animation, Shape-Shifters is perhaps the only Love, Death & Robots episode that feels uncanny and almost unfinished in its execution.

On top of its jarring aesthetic, the story of two werewolves fighting with the US army in Afghanistan -- where they face prejudice and a snarling new threat -- becomes far too clunky and silly to justify its serious, menacing tone.

There's a compelling story in here somewhere about war's effects on overseas servicemen and soldiers who feel out of place with their own brothers-in-arms, but, action-packed as it may be, it's never given the chance to show itself.
