Every Main Character From True Detective Ranked From Worst To Best

The second season was a narrative and scripting mess, but where it didn't fail was to provide audiences with five main characters who were unique in their own ways. No two characters were the same, and for Kelly Reilly's Jordan Semyon, audiences' were blessed with a performance akin to a modern-day Lady Macbeth.

As the wife of a former crime boss trying to go legit, it was interesting for us to see the character plan for a quieter future whilst supporting and standing by her husband when the bodies start piling up. She's intuitive too; as the first person in Frank's inner circle to suspect their advisor Blake of going against them.

Her story arc as the better half to Frank is only placated more when the story of her and Frank trying to conceive a child comes into the fold. While Frank sees having a child from his own seed as a symbol of legacy and to prove his masculinity, Jordan's want for a child is out of love and empathy- hence her suggestion to adopt a child.

Jordan was low-key one of the finest parts of a messy second season, and should have appeared in a better seasonal arc.
