1. Loki's Variants - Loki

For the entirety of Loki’s first season, the titular character was essentially being held hostage by the Time Variance Authority. He may have been working with Mobius at times, but there was never a moment when the threat of being pruned wasn’t hanging over him.

At the end of the fourth episode, when Loki and Sylvie found out the truth that the Time Keepers were mere androids under the control of a mysterious puppet master, the God of Mischief was seemingly killed. Renslayer pruned him, and he faded away.

At this moment, no-one knew exactly what being pruned meant, though it had been painted as something rather final. This was disproved in the first post-credits scene of the series, which saw Loki awake in the Void opposite four of his variants.

Classic Loki, Kid Loki, Boastful Loki, and Alligator Loki appeared to tease that Loki’s story was far from over, confirming what everyone was waiting for from the minute he escaped the Avengers with the Tesseract - multiple Lokis sharing the screen together, as well as wider implications regarding the possibility of variants in general.
