Every Season Of How I Met Your Mother Ranked Worst To Best

8. Season 8

How I Met Your Mother
CBS

In Season 8, How I Met Your Mother starts to wind its story down. Barney and Robin get engaged, Ted accepts a job in Chicago, and we get our first quick glimpse of the Mother.

Season 8 feels silly at places. Episodes such as Bad Crazy and Romeward Bound come across as over the top, with the former following a series of lies Robin tells Lily to keep hidden the fact that Mike Tyson took her and baby Marvin into a strip club, and the latter about Barney's desire for his attractive wedding planner to take off her coat so he can see her "ridonculous" body. While both jokes are funny, basing entire episodes off of them feels like a stretch.

Season 8 of How I Met Your Mother still works, with beautiful episodes such as The Final Page, The TIme Travelers, and Something Old/Something New anchoring it in something more realistic and heartfelt. Hilarious outings like P.S. I Love You, Weekend at Barney's, and The Bro Mitzvah show that the comedy is still top notch. This is the season where Marshall spills a giant bag of skittles during a moment of silence at an art gallery, and yes, that's as funny as it sounds.

The only real reason Season 8 ranks so low is that it has to compete with the rest of How I Met Your Mother.
