Every Season Of How I Met Your Mother Ranked Worst To Best

7. Season 1

How I Met Your Mother
CBS

Season 1 of How I Met Your Mother introduces us to the characters we would one day love, as well as sets up the entire story. In the very first episode, Ted sits his kids down to tell them the story of how he met their mother, but gets sidetracked, instead focusing on the fun stories from his twenties with his friends Marshall, Lily, and Barney.

He also quickly meets Robin, who he wants to be their mother, though she just wants to be friends. However, as Ted starts dating another woman, Robin starts to catch feelings for him. Their game of romantic cat-and-mouse finally pays off in the beautiful season finale, Come On.

Despite classic episodes like The Duel, The Pineapple Incident, and Game Night, How I Met Your Mother Season 1 ranks this low because the characters don't quite feel lived in yet. Both the actors and the writers are only just discovering the characters, and haven't worked in many of the hilarious quirks and oddities that would soon go on to define them.

Season 1 of How I Met Your Mother is really good television which would soon pave the way for some great television.
