Every Season Of How I Met Your Mother Ranked Worst To Best
5. Season 5
Season 5 appropriately falls right in the middle of our ranking. The season sees a new chapter in everyone's lives: Ted takes on a new job as a teacher, Barney and Robin begin dating each other, and Marshall and Lily start to talk about having kids.
Though the season has a few fairly uneventful episodes, such as Bagpipes, Hooked, and Zoo or False, it makes up for them with all time greats, including The Playbook, Last Cigarette Ever, Say Cheese, and Girls vs. Suits, which features the best musical number in the history of the show: Nothing Suits Me Like a Suit, Barney's Emmy-nominated love song dedicated to his formal wear.
The season includes Ted's first glimpse of the Mother, his accidental return of her iconic yellow umbrella, the introduction of Barney's Playbook, the origins of the gang's Robots vs. Wrestlers tradition, Ted's ex-fiance's husband's movie The Wedding Bride, and the first appearances of the dopplegangers. Aside from a small handful of slightly lackluster episodes, what's not to love?
