Every Star Trek Opening Titles Ranked Worst To Best
1. Star Trek: Voyager
Voyager's opening sequence stands out as easily the most beautiful of them all. Jerry Goldsmith returned to Star Trek to compose the theme, moving away from the Enterprise motif that he had created for the Motion Picture. Instead, he wrote a lush new piece that has recently appeared in Star Trek: Picard, to accompany Seven of Nine.
Star Trek: Voyager was the first Star Trek series to use CGI in its opening sequence. For this, Amblin Imaging was commissioned. They would go on to win an Emmy for their work. Amblin Imaging was set up in 1993 by Steven Spielberg to provide computer effects for SeaQuestDSV, though it had also provided the work for the new life form in The Next Generation episode Emergence.
Amblin would look after the CGI for the first two seasons of Voyager, though in 1995 its owner, Universal Studios, decided to close the company down. However, it rebranded and became Digital Muse, which continued to work on Star Trek up until Insurrection. They would also share the workload on the later series of Deep Space Nine, with Sacrifice of Angels being the best example of this.
