Every Time The Simpons REALLY Killed Characters
1. Edna Krabappel
Bart's long-suffering teacher Edna Krabappel was one of the show's most grounded and darkly funny creations. Her dry-wit, self-deprecation, and lack of passion for teaching meant that she was responsible for some of the best one-liners that the series has ever produced.
Throughout her life, Edna was often depicted as being unlucky in love, with many failed relationships and a penchant for single-course meals and triple servings of wine. After all the heartache though, Edna eventually married Ned Flanders and lived out the rest of her days in marital bliss.
Like many others on this list, Edna perished off-screen, but fans were treated to a small epilogue at the end of season twenty-five's 'The Man Who Grew Too Much', in which Ned and Nelson share a somber moment - with Ned declaring his undying love for Edna and Nelson lamenting on what she meant to him.
The sad truth is that Edna's character was retired when voice actress Marcia Wallace died of pneumonia at the age of 71. Her unexpected death sent a ripple through the show's production and struck a chord with fans who were quick to mourn the passing of such a talented actress.
We'll really miss you Mrs K.
