Every Time The Simpons REALLY Killed Characters
2. Frank Grimes
Something of a controversial episode upon its initial broadcast, 'Homer's Enemy' is a prime example of The Simpsons firing on all cylinders.
Despite the episode's stellar writing, fans and critics were divided on whether or not the episode went too far with its dark humour. Thankfully time has been especially kind to this one and modern audiences are quick to rank it amongst the show's very best offerings.
The episode sees the long-suffering and perpetually bitter Frank Grimes start his new job at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant. He immediately takes an extreme dislike to Homer, mostly due to his often idiotic shenanigans and generally lazy demeanor being in stark contrast to his own hard-working principles.
Try as Homer might to win him over, his actions only serve to add further fuel to Grimes' disdain and jealousy, culminating in a scene in which a clearly broken Frank grabs live power-cables with his bare hands, killing him instantly.
Despite only appearing once canonically, old Grimey is a fan-favourite character that has had many call-backs in the years since his self-imposed electrocution, but whether or not Homer can actually remember who he is, is a whole other story.
