Falcon & The Winter Soldier: 10 Characters Who MUST Appear

Though Nick Fury and Maria Hill have been around since Phase One, the two don't really have any established relationship with many of the current heroes leading the MCU. Aside from Fury's history with Captain Marvel, his bringing together of the original six Avengers (and later Rhodey), and - through Talos and Soren standing in - dealing with Spider-Man, the duo hasn't interacted with the new generation of Avengers like Black Panther, Doctor Strange, and Ant-Man.

If anything, Sam and Bucky are the ones who have the closest history to the duo, the former having worked with them and Steve to help stop HYDRA's helicarrier plot and the latter having attempted an assassination on Fury's life. As such, it'd be nice to see Fury and Hill - even if we're left to wonder if it's their Skrull stand-ins - at least attempting to support the next generation of Avengers by offering assistance in a time of need.

Whatever Fury is currently working on with the Skrulls, whether it's SWORD or something else, it feels like he's going to need to summon all his allies again one day down the line. And with the original Avengers lineup either dead, seemingly retired, or no longer on Earth, it's time for the pair to keep making real connections with the heroes who will be carrying the franchise forward for years to come, making Sam and Bucky a prime pairing for them to check in with.
