With the U.S. government likely to feature heavily into the plot of the series, it would only be fitting to see President Matthew Ellis again. Introduced all the way back in Iron Man 3, where his life was saved thanks to Tony and Rhodey, Ellis made further appearances in the WHIH Newsfront marketing shorts for Captain America: Civil War and a handful of episodes in the third season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Considering the presidential timeline has been muddled over the years - for instance, direct references to former real-life President Barack Obama have been made in shows like Luke Cage and Runaways - it'd be great to get some clarification on who the current president is within the MCU, fictional or otherwise. If, for instance, Ellis was still president at the time of the Decimation, likely near or at the end of his second term, what would it mean for him (and the government) when half the population disappeared?

Would an election still occur amidst such a crisis, or would he remain in office for emergency purposes? What if he was snapped away before his term was up and returned five years later? And even if Ellis was no longer president by 2018, how did the Decimation affect the political and governmental system? All these questions and more would be fascinating aspects of the MCU landscape for the series to at least touch upon and illuminate with the U.S. government at play.
