In the early days of Family Guy, Luke Perry was without question the best cameo appearance the show had. In 2000's "The Story on Page One" Peter re-writes a headlining article for Meg's school paper, hoping to help her out. His contribution? An article alleging that Luke Perry is gay. The real Perry soon turns up demanding a retraction and threatening a lawsuit, while Peter attempts to seduce him to give the story a basis in reality. Why does it work? Perry's role was more than just a cameo, he was the center of the episode, and he had no trouble playing a fictionalized version of himself. The real pay-off is at the end, when Perry sleeps with Mayor West, proving he was gay all along.
