47. Dog Gone
Season: 8
Episode: 8
Original Air Date: November 29th, 2009 This is a very Brian-centric episode, with the family dog going through an emotional roller coaster. First, he thinks his novel is winning an award, only to realize that the award is being given out by the mentally handicapped. He then goes out and gets drunk, only to run over and kill another dog. Brian fights with himself about just how much his life means to human beings after the Griffins laugh off the idea of him killing another dog. Stewie works on a plan to help test how much the Griffins love and cherish Brian as a member of their family, and he wants Brian to sit back and watch it all unfold. The story is slightly deeper than the average Family Guy episode, but it still doesn't take itself too seriously, which is nice. This episode is also memorable for the debut of Consuela, the stereotypical Latina maid that has gone on to make several more appearances on the show, and has become one of the more quoted characters on the show, even though she doesn't normally say more than a couple words at a time.
