Fargo: 12 WTF Moments From The Season 2 Premiere 'Waiting For Dutch'

2. Triple-Stack In The Waffle Hut

Kieran Culkin was excellent as Rye in this episode, and nowhere was that more evident than in the Waffle Hut scene. He arrived all coked-up, and his drug-induced twitchiness was on point. He jumps everytime the waitress asks him a question, and pours about a week's worth of the recommended sugar allowance into his coffee. Then he kills the Judge. After his attempts to win her over fail, and she bug sprays him in the face, he pulls out a gun and shoots her. Hearing the commotion, the chef runs out of the kitchen to stop him, and thus gives us the unexpected (though obvious when you think about it) rule: never bring a frying pan to a gun fight. For good measure the waitress is killed too, and then the Judge, who wasn't killed the first time, gets a couple more bullets. And then of course the waitress wasn't really dead either, so he has to follow her outside and shoot her some more. It's a really violent and shocking scene, yet there's also an air of (very dark) comedy to it, which is what this show is all about.
