3. Hit And Run (And UFO?)

Rye is making his way from the Waffle Hut, after the small matter of murdering a bunch of people, when something catches his eye: flashing lights in the sky...wait, is that really a UFO?! It certainly looks like it might be, and if the show was to really go down that road it'd be crazier than I possibly imagined. More likely, perhaps, is that it's playing up the feel of the period, when there were plenty of UFO sightings and conspiracy theories that people got swept up in (I bet Karl believes in aliens). While Rye (and us viewers) and distracted by that possible spaceship, out of nowhere he's hit by a car. The moment didn't happen all that fast, which adds to the small-town vibe, but it does seem like Rye - one of the main characters up until this point - has just been killed off, and whoever was driving the car has continued on their merry way.
