One of the very distinctive parts of Farscape was its use of creatures created by the world famous Jim Hensons Creature Shop. As well as entirely creating some main characters such as Rygel and of course Pilot, it was also responsible for creating numerous background creatures and characters and presumably was consulted on even the humanoid alien makeup. You cant really imagine that they didnt have a hand in creating the Scarrans, for instance! With the launch of Jim Hensons Creature Shop Challenge on Syfy, it only makes sense that there would be some degree of cross promotional work for the new Farscape film. Giving the finalists the chance to create a creature to appear in the film itself would not be unexpected. To further the connection between the two shows, the Creature Shop Challenge is hosted by Gigi Edgley who played Chiana in Farscape. What is even more impressive is that the artists working at the shop now will have grown up on Farscape and will want to incorporate improvements seen in the creation of such creatures since the end of the series. This could result in some seriously fantastic designs by creators who have been practising their Farscape-esque aliens for the past ten years.
