9. How Long Have The Government Known About The Crisis?

Now down to the good stuff. One of the subtle themes throughout the pilot is the constant whirring of helicopters. On numerous occasions as characters walk around outside of the school and hospital you can clearly hear the sound of helicopters floating around. This is the response to many people vanishing, and seems fairly normal to the characters who all calmly discuss flu shots and the virus that has struck many pupils in the school. This means that the outbreak has rumbled on for a short while, but how much longer did the government know about it all? There've been no authoritative figures introduced yet, so there's no official word on what's happening, but the government surely know more about this than the public have been led to believe.
