Fear The Walking Dead will be a sort-of prequel to its AMC stablemate, beginning at the very start of the zombie outbreak. This means well get to witness how society initially reacts to the dead starting to rise, as well as possible attempts to stop or at least contain it, and ultimately what caused the sheer destruction of humanity that led to the world Rick wakes up in. While itll start before Rick wakes up, Kirkman has confirmed that the plan is for the two shows to eventually run concurrently. Hes also insistent that it will stand very much on its own two feet, and that people do not need to have watched The Walking Dead in order to enjoy this, although there may be one or two nods to the series. Accompanying AMCs announcement that production on the show had begun, Kirkman said: Fear the Walking Dead takes us back to the earlier, more dangerous, more terrifying days of The Walking Dead. Were going to show people all the insanity of civilization crumbling that Rick Grimes slept through. He has also confirmed that it will not have any relation to the graphic novels, meaning they will be free to go in pretty much any direction they choose, and that no one will really know what to expect. Whether well actually get an answer to the big question - what started the outbreak - remains to be seen, but with a two-season order in the bag its unlikely to be getting there anytime soon.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
