Fear The Walking Dead Season 2: 10 Things That Must Happen Next

1. Get Back To Being Different

Fear The Walking Dead was sold as being set before the world had gone to hell, showing the crumbling of society, rather than the accepted post-apocalyptic world of The Walking Dead.

That didn't quite work out, as it felt the apocalypse happened pretty quickly, but it was still different enough. It showed the first signs of the virus taking hold, and the panic that ensued, and then the military taking charge. This year took things further afield, as the characters went out to sea, which gave it a very different look and feel to its parent show, while still grounded in that universe thanks to the presence of zombies and fight for survival.

However, it's started to feel more and more like it's just retreading various elements of The Walking Dead now. Chris is somewhere between Carl and Shane; Celia keeping zombies in her basement, Daniel burning it down is like Season 2 of The Walking Dead; and Nick taking a long walk down a deserted highway, coming across gangs, finding water, and ending up in a community are all events that have occurred in the main show. It makes you wonder, a little, what the point of this is?

Fear is at its best when it's doing its own thing, not being Walking Dead-lite, and it needs to get back to being in locations that look different, and having its characters be different and put in different situations, if it really wants to be anything more.
