8 Female TV Characters Who Get Way Too Much Hate

4. Meg (Supernatural)

In the world of Supernatural, there are monsters and men, angels and demons, conflicted villains and reluctant anti-heroes. And then there are women. That's pretty much the extent of how involved the show gets with the fairer sex in terms of characterization.

Over the course of the first few seasons, they seemed to care so little about female roles that they had a prominent character, a demon known as Ruby, straight-up switch bodies from one season to the next, hoping that the audience would neglect to notice the new actress playing the part.

They later did the exact same thing with another female demon, Meg. This time, the audience noticed.

When Rachel Miner was brought in to take over the role from Nicki Aycox, critics lambasted her for being a one-note riff on the idea of who the character used to be, rather than succeeding as a wholly new representation of the character. Which is an awful long way of saying "We preferred the blonde who didn't talk with the lisp."

Taking over any role, particularly one that people genuinely liked, isn't easy on an actor. This was a damned if you do/damned if you don't situation, and Miner's new, super sarcastic Meg is a nice, light-handed addition to the show, which has taken itself a little too seriously in recent years.
