The Flash: 10 Predictions For The Rest Of The Series

9. Gorilla Grodd

A sentient gorilla with telepathic powers, a vendetta against humans and the ruler of a simian nation. That doesn€™t sound like an easy character to pull off, especially with the budget of a TV show. It may also feel a little goofy for the universe; metahumans and hints at time travel are one thing, but a talking psychic gorilla could be quite another. However, the team behind the DC TV universe are nothing if not ambitious, and there are a couple of hints scattered throughout the initial nine episodes that suggest Gorilla Grodd already exists within the world of The Flash and could appear at any time. In the episode €œPlastique€ Grodd appears as an asset wanted by General Wade Elling, a rather amoral army office. However, Dr Wells prevents Elling from continuing to work with Grodd, which may not be entirely better; after Elling leaves Wells suggests he has €˜big plans€™ for Grodd. Given Wells€™ possibly villainous and manipulative nature, this could well have been the worst case scenario. In fact, there are further suggestions that it was in the pilot, where we see Grodd€™s mangled cage. This implies Grodd has escaped from Wells€™ custody; maybe even that he was at the labs at the point the particle accelerator went wrong and gained metahuman (well, meta-gorilla) powers. Given the amount of foreshadowing, it€™s highly likely Grodd will show up sometime during the rest of the season. It€™s also likely he€™ll show up with Wells still around, as the two apparently have a history that needs to play out on screen. Grodd is arguably one of the most famous DC villains out there, so if they get him right it could be a great addition to a show that€™s already finding the top of its game.

Adam Livermore hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
