The Flash: 7 Things That Season 1 Has Done Right (And 3 It Hasn't)
1. Crossover
After many months of anticipation from fans following the announcement of a Flash/Arrow crossover and several weeks of extensive promotion from the network, viewers of The CW's DC universe got a look at how a partnership between the dour Oliver Queen and the perky Barry Allen would actually work. Despite the facts that Grant Gustin actually first appeared as Barry Allen in a Season 2 two-parter of Arrow and Arrow's Emily Bett Rickards already guest starred as Felicity Smoak on The Flash, this crossover event would be the first meeting of Starling City's dark vigilante and Central City's beacon of hope in all of their masked and color-coded glory. Luckily, it worked. Fans who knew nothing more of Arrow than Oliver's quick cameo in the Flash series premiere were eased into the dynamic of the visiting Team Arrow, and the contrast created some solid humor as well as provided a necessary reality check for Team Flash. The result was an episode that is arguably best of the series so far. The epic battle sequence between the enraged Flash and the very human Arrow alone made it worth the watch. The success all but guarantees future crossover that will hopefully be as downright entertaining as the first. And now, onto what hasn't worked in Season 1 so far...
