The CW have been releasing bits and pieces of information regarding the cast of characters in The Flash. Fans have known the usual cast of Flashs comics, namely Iris West and Director Singh, would appear in the show, but a recent episode of Arrow revealed a pre-Vibe and pre-Killer Frost will also star as colleagues of Barrys. One of the most surprising aspects the trailer revealed about The Flash, however, is the fact that the majority of the supporting cast already know about Barrys abilities. Its an extremely common staple for superheroes to have secret identities and hide them from the people closest to them. A few exceptions can be made, Iron Man and Captain America in particular, but overall most superheroes keep their crime-fighting persona out of the spotlight. However, this is where The Flash series differs from the comics. It seems right away several people not only know about Barrys powers, but actively help him don his superhero identity by giving him the chance to hone his powers and creating his iconic suit. Even Arrow took some time before nearly everyone discovered Olivers secret and Smallville took five years before most of the characters found out about Clarks, so the fact Flash starts right away with several people knowing is a refreshing take on the classic staple. It should prove very interesting down the line as one of his friends is set to become another hero and the other a dangerous villain.
